Near
Parque Santa Ana
& Paseo Montejo
Note the exquisite details of this National Historical Monument
Because of those details and because this facade and home have
been kept in such fine repair, the home was honored with this
designation in 1987.
This marvelous home is located about ten minutes walk from Merida's
main Central Zocalo, or plaza. It is 5-7 minutes, on foot, to
Parque
Santa Ana,
with it's Zocalo, cathedral, market, and food vendors all
conveniently nearby. You will also encounter pharmacies, a
super-market, restaurants, hardware and other venues that make
living in this area so pleasant and convenient for those of us who
prefer a 5 minute walk for just about anything one might need, to
driving across town and hoping to find parking at your destination,
not to mention when you return home!

Merida's world famous, tree-lined Paseo Montejo begins just 2 1/2
short blocks from your door. On most Saturdays, you will find a
"concert in the park" atmosphere just minutes from your doorstep.
They miraculously close off the Paseo where it begins at your Calle
49, erect a full stage, provide seating for hundreds, and most often
offer a concert with live music and dance ranging folkloric to modern
jazz.

There are food and beverage stalls selling some of the Yucatan's most
favorite and famous dishes and appetizers as well as local artisans of
all kinds in their own venues offering an unending variety of high
quality arts and crafts. Continuing up the boulevard, you find fine
restaurants, clubs, street art, banks, our fabulous Anthropology
Museum, book stores ,and world class shopping and entertainment
possibilities second to none.

Merida's transportation system is excellent and from this home,
within half a block or so, you will find buses to take you almost
anywhere in the City (or farther afield), including to the most modern
and popular of shopping malls, and even to all of our local beaches,
usually for less than the cost of the parking lot fees to park your own
car. Taxi's are also inexpensive and convenient usually arriving at
your home within 10-15 minutes with a simple phone call.
To the right, note the 16 ft high
beamed ceilings in the entry and first
bedroom. A 3/4 wall was removed
between the 3rd and 4th rooms to
create a Yoga and training room.
Skylights provide  subtle ambient
light. The wall, by the way, can easily
be restored for under $300.00 US
Below are several of the Pasta Floor styles in the home. A 5th style can be seen in the
vertical photo above with the beamed ceiling and Pilate's table in view.
The first floor  basics: 4 large , high-ceilinged rooms (approx 16 x
16 ft Sq.) form the inviting entry to this colonial period classic.
Pasta tile floors and high ceiling
s help keep this home cool and
comfortable during the hottest  months in the Yucatan. Two full
baths, dining, kitchen, and laundry rooms also complete the 1st
floor. This property has 5 baths in total.
The living room entry shares passage with 2-3 other ground
floor bedrooms. There are two baths on the first floor plus
kitchen and dining room.... This all "works" as is but with a
little imagination, this ready-to-live-in beauty could become
one of the homes you´ll see on the Merida Home Tour or in
various architectural magazines featuring the marvelous
designs and improvements folks are making by combining the
best of the historical period with the tasteful comforts of
contemporary 21st century living
The second floor is large enough to serve as a second
residence/apartment, studio, or spacious home office.
Tree-shaded and with incredible garden views , we call this our
"tree-house" although it´s anything but rustic.. Large bathroom,
large living/bedroom, small room at the stair landing and
another suitable for a study, studio, or cozy bedroom. Access to
the 2nd floor is currently from the dining room below but these
stairs could easily removed to the back patio affording the
upstairs yet another room or bedroom, and a completely private
entrance while almost doubling the size and certainly the utility
of the already spacious dining room/den.
Lot Size at roughly 640 square meters (10m x 64m,) is generally about ....double...of  what
you will encounter in most available listings these days. See for your self.
Besides extensive tropical gardens, this home has a full, air-conditioned, guest house with
screened lanai, as well as a solar heated swimming pool in an Eden-like setting, filled with
flowers, 7 kinds of palms, 5 kinds of platanos (bananas) orange, Noni, Neem and other
medicinal plants.
This home has been very well maintained and cared for. From paint to plumbing to
electrical to roofing. The 2nd floor, pool and guest house are just over 12 years old. The
main house has been re-roofed every 4 years and just 3 months past had a complete
reworking fully guaranteed for an 3 additional years. Note: If that roof is kept clean and
resealed in 2-3 years, it should easily last an additional 3-4 years for a net cost of under
$200.00 USD.

Electrical: Most of the house is grounded and 220 volt service has been installed for the
air-conditioning, well-pumps used to water the garden, and operate the pool filtration
system. The house and guest house of course have telephone/DSL, High Speed Internet
service as well as a SKY TV satellite subscription
Please NOTE : IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR A FOREIGNER TO PURCHASE
